Apart from the massive Orange Island Lantern Display, two major riverside firework shows and the various bar and shopping fun to be had, spending SF in the 'Sha is actually quite pleasant. Kaifu Temple is Changsha's most sacred temple and an active place of worship. Go inside, throw coins into the tall bronze towers in the main courtyard, foretell your future and take in the nearby street stalls.

Head to the main library on Shaoshan Lu (Near Dolton Hotel and Line 1 Subway) for this classic fayre.
Head down to TaiPingJie and check out the array of lanterns, especially at night time.
