On 21st March, the long awaited north-south mainline has finally reached the test run phase. The secretary of Changsha city council Mr. Fu, Changsha's mayor Hu Heng Hua, city leaders Zhang Ying Chun, Li Chun Qiu, Liu Ming Li, city government secretary Zhang Tan Yong and the project engineers all rode on the train together in order to bear witness to this historic moment.
Line 1's route
Line 1 is the main north to south line for the Changsha metro, Line 1 and 2 make up the main framework of the Chansha metro, forming a cross going from north-south, east-west. This makes line one one of the most important routes in the whole of the Changsha transportation network. Line 1 runs over a distance of around 23.627km, with a total of 20 stations, out of these 20 stations, 19 are below ground, and one is a high-rise rail station. There are 8 interchanges on the whole line.
The line starts in from the north with Kaifu district government to Shangshuangtang, passing Wuyi square, Nanmenkou, Houjiatang, Provincial government, Zhongxin Cheng etc. with a total of 20 stations overall. Linking upthe Wujialing, Wuyi, Dongtang, Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan commercial districts.
